The Diversity of Exoplanets, Habitability, and Biosignature Gases

Sara Seager

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA

The focus on exoplanets and habitability has naturally been terracentric. Yet exoplanets are incredibly diverse, taking on a wide range of masses and orbits. By extension, terrestrial exoplanets, when discovered and characterized, likely additionally have a diverse range of atmospheric masses and atmospheric composition. To increase our chances of identifying habitable or inhabited worlds, we must evaluate the full range of habitability and potential biosignature gases.
