Astrobiology of the Outer Solar System: Origins in Icy Worlds Jet Propulsion Laboratory, United States of America Ice covered moons with subsurface oceans or seas may harbor habitable liquid water environments. The combined volume of liquid water on Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Titan, and Enceladus could exceed the volume of liquid water on Earth by one to two orders of magnitude. In this presentation I will present the latest spacecraft observations of possible ocean worlds and discuss the surface and subsurface chemistry in the context of our laboratory simulations and numerical modeling of such worlds. |
